ETIAS For Canada

ETIAS Countries participating in the visa waiver program

ETIAS program was established for screening non-European Union citizens before they enter Europe. The EU is comprised of 28 sovereign countries. However, Schengen member states will require the ETIAS visa waiver.

Twenty-six countries make up the Schengen Zone. Twenty-two of them are members of the European Union, while the remaining four belong to the European Free Trade Association. A citizen of the EU can travel to and stay in any other EU country.
The complete list of Schengen countries that require citizens to apply to an ETIAS before traveling to their territories can be found on the map below.

A valid passport is required to cross each of these five countries. This statement applies to both Europeans and third-country nationals. Non-European citizens will need a visa to enter Europe at its borders like Romania and Bulgaria.

There are some countries that have visa-free travel to specific European nations. For example, visa-free Philippines travel does not mean they participate in ETIAS program. They may need to apply fro Schengen visa instead. Each member of non-Schengen has its foreign entry policy. Visit the Schengen Visa page to learn more about each country and its requirements for Schengen Visa access.

European Union

Over the years, the European Union has seen exponential growth. In 1951, the only countries that joined together economically were Belgium, Germany, and France. The EU currently includes 28 countries. Croatia was the last country to join in 2013.
The currency of the Euro (EUR) is a national currency unit of the 19 EU member states. These countries make up the Eurozone.

European Free Trade Association

The European Free Trade Association (EFTA) is an association made up of Iceland, Lichtenstein, Norway, Switzerland, and other countries. Nations created this organization to encourage free trade and economic cooperation within Europe and between countries around the globe.

Schengen zone

The Schengen Agreement was first signed in 1985 by five countries. The agreement allows people, goods, services, and capital to move freely within the agreement zone without further complications. The Schengen Zone comprises 26 countries that acknowledge the abolishment of internal borders with other member countries.
European citizens do not need a visa or a passport to travel within the Schengen Area.

European Single Market

Imagine everything happening within one country to understand free movement better. The European Union’s single market (also known as the internal market) allows for the free movement and exchange of goods, people, money, and services. Furthermore, EU citizens can travel, study in, live, work, and retire in any EU state.
The internal market system also includes eliminating internal borders between EU countries. The free movement was a burden before because of many technical, legal, and bureaucratic obstacles. Elimination of the barriers opened up new opportunities for local business expansion at international levels and lower production costs and increased customer choice.

Here are some examples of benefits of the single European market:
