ETIAS Travel Authorization for Colombians
Colombian passport holders are permitted to visit any Schengen member nations without obtaining visas. This applies to Colombian travelers visiting Europe for short-term stays lasting up to 90 days.
Colombian citizens will continue to enjoy the 90-day stay in the European Union for leisure, business, and tourism in 2025, but given that they apply for ETIAS. European Travel Information and Authorization System, also known as ETIAS, will be in force in the latter half of 2025.

Requirements for Colombian nationals traveling to EU
Colombians are required at present to do nothing more than have valid passports to gain admission into the Schengen Area. But, beginning at around 2025, after ETIAS has been fully implemented, Colombian citizens will also be required to sign up for an ETIAS authorization.

It is a legal condition to ensure that ETIAS applicants, including Colombia, are issued valid biometric passports that machines can read whenever they apply for ETIAS. It is also mandatory for travel within Europe.

Colombian Citizens ETIAS Application
By 2025, applying for an ETIAS is a law obligation for all Colombians traveling into any country part of the Schengen Zone. The nationals of Colombia must apply for an online registration system before departing their home country.
To be registered to be eligible for ETIAS, Colombian citizens will be required to divulge the following details:
• According to the bio page of the citizen’s passport, first name, last name, and middle name according to the bio name of the citizen’s passport.
• Passport information, including the country, the date of issue, and the expiry date, as the passport number in its entirety.
• Plans for travel, which include the first country that the Colombian citizen plans to join inside the Schengen Area, their date of arrival, as well as departure
In addition to the ETIAS requirements for Colombian nationals, as previously stated, every Colombian traveler will have to answer some basic questions about their health, travel history, criminal and educational experience.
When Colombian citizens’ passport expires, the traveler should renew the passport before enrolling in ETIAS. Otherwise, an invalid passport will create problems as ETIAS electronically links with only one passport used in the online registration procedure.

It is important to note that the ETIAS visa waiver is valid for three years from acceptance. However, as ETIAS electronically links with the passport utilized in applying, the electronic travel authorization will be null if the passport expires before the expiration date of 3 years.
The application form for ETIAS for Colombians contains several fundamental security questions in the online application. The process online is simple and will take a minimum of 10 minutes of your time to complete on your tablet, smartphone, or laptop computer. Candidates are advised to review all the data provided in the form to ensure accuracy. This is because any mistakes or inconsistencies can delay the processing process and, in some circumstances, result in the ETIAS being rejected.

ETIAS Visa Waiver Information for Colombian Citizens
All Colombians who travel to Europe with an ETIAS visa waiver are granted unlimited entry to the member countries within the Schengen zone for 90 days in any 180 days. From 2025 onwards, the ETIAS is a mandatory entry requirement for all Colombian citizens who travel to Europe regardless of age. The ETIAS is valid for three years.
An EU ETIAS visa waiver grants Colombian citizens the right to travel to anywhere in the European countries which are members of the Schengen zone. All applications are scrutinized through Border Control of the EU Border Control to check the information against various security databases, including Interpol, along with the ETIAS watchlist. All the data entered in the application of Colombian passport holders when filling out the ETIAS Europe visa waiver application will be verified against a variety of databases for security. The security databases are managed by the same entity that has been behind the creation of ETIAS – EU-LISA. EU-Lisa stands for the European Union Agency for the Operational Management of Large-Scale IT Systems in the Field of Freedom, Security, and Justice.
The security databases used to screen suspects are:
• VIS It is a system that collects information about visas
• SIS is a system used to find people who are believed of having a criminal history of missing persons, the theft of assets
• EURODAC is an organization that compiles fingerprint information
The security procedures associated with ETIAS are being developed and implemented to identify illegal migrants to Schengen who commit identity fraud or other forms of crimes.
If the system rejects the Colombian passport holder’s request in its automated checks against the security databases mentioned above, the form submitted will be processed manually through ETIAS officials.
Should the manual evaluation of the European Coast or Border Guard be required during the applicant’s ETIAS application, it will extend processing time.
An ETIAS Visa waiver to travelers from Colombia will likely be denied if it is determined that the applicant is a participant of grave criminal activities or deportation of the other Schengen country.
