Schengen visa waiver for Albanians

All Albanian passport holders who wish to travel to any country within the Schengen Zone by 2025 will apply for an ETIAS.

ETIAS stands for European Travel Information and Authorization System. It is a system that allows visa-free travelers to enter and leave Schengen countries.
Although it is part of Europe, Albania is not a Schengen zone member or a member of the European Union. Albanian citizens will therefore need an ETIAS visa waiver to travel to Schengen Area countries.

ETIAS Visa Waiver Requirements for Citizens of Albania

Online application for ETIAS visa waivers for Albanian citizens will be easy, fast, and straightforward. The applicant will need to complete an easy-to-use online ETIAS form. Schengen immigration officials will use the submitted information to screen travelers for entry to member countries. This verification process is intended to increase security in the Schengen area and prevent individuals who could threaten member countries from boarding a plane that will land in one or more of these countries. After the application process has been completed and the ETIAS visa waiver fees paid, the pre-screening process begins. While most applications are processed within one business day, some cases may take up to three business days if additional documentation is needed. After the application has been verified, the applicant will receive their ETIAS visa waiver through email.

Traveling with ETIAS visa waiver

For short-term stays, citizens of Albania who travel to Schengen Zone countries do not need to apply for visas. However, rules will change in late 2025 when all Schengen member countries require that Albanian citizens have a valid ETIAS visa waiver.

All travelers, including minors, must have a valid passport. All Albanians who travel to Schengen member states for the short-term stay will need ETIAS. Minors from Albania will need to apply and receive an ETIAS visa waiver.
